Swindon have strengthened their defence with the signing of Ashley Westwood on loan.
Swindon Town have strengthened their defence with the signing of Chester City centre-back Ashley Westwood on a season-long loan deal.
The 30-year-old is a much-needed addition to the Robins defence with Charlie Comyn-Platt leaving for Rochdale and Ady Williams out through injury.
Westwood, who has enjoyed successful stints at Crewe, Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford, is likely to figure in Saturday's tie against Stockport County.
Town boss Paul Sturrock told the club's official website: "He's an experienced player who has all the credentials to come straight into our back four.
"It is important that we use his experience to our advantage particularly the young players, who can learn a lot from him."
Meanwhile, Chester have completed loan deals for Boston midfielder Brad Maylett and striker Royce Brownlie of Swindon.
Chester boss Mark Wright has had his eye on Maylett for some time now and makes the double signing in an attempt to bolster his squad.
