Bury goalkeeper Cameron Belford has extended his emergency loan spell at League Two promotion chasers Southend.

Belford joined the Shrimpers at the end of March as cover for Glenn Morris and has kept two clean sheets in six appearances for the club. The 23-year-old was initially signed for one month but his stay at Roots Hall has been extended until the end of the season. Southend's first-choice keeper Glenn Morris is still suffering from a thigh injury and may need an operation for a dislocated finger. Belford, who achieved promotion with parent club Bury last season, told the club's official website: "I want to play games and earn my money rather than just sitting around. "The manager here has said he wants me to stay which is good." Belford was a key part of Bury's promotion to League One last season, keeping an impressive 14 clean sheets in 39 league appearances.
