Francis has admitted that a number of players are unhappy at the prospect of playing Third Division football next season and it is understood that Dons boss Terry Burton reportedly sees Ellington as the perfect replacement for Jason Euell, who was recently sold to Charlton for a bumper £4.5 million.
The 19-year-old striker, who has notched an impressive 20 goals in his 49 league starts to date, says that he is happy at the Memorial Ground for the time being, although he admits that his days at the Memorial Ground may be numbered.
"I am very happy at Rovers and they have been good to me," he remarked.
"I am enjoying being back in training and I'm looking forward to the start of the season.
"But I know that if a club comes in with a big bid for me then the club will have to consider it, as every player has his price."
Meanwhile, Francis admitted that all is not ship-shape for The Pirates, saying: "Garry Thompson has had one or two agents and players express that they're not that happy to play in the third division while he has been in charge during the summer.
"But from that point of view anything that might happen would have to be right for this football club and I want people in blue and white shirts to be very very committed to the football club."
