Lincoln City feel they may be priced out of the market in attempting to sign Danny Crow.
Lincoln director of football John Deehan feels his club may be priced out of the market in their attempt to sign Peterborough striker Danny Crow.
Crow, who has scored 27 goals in his two years at London Road, has been transfer listed by the League Two side but they are unlikely to let him go cheaply as the 21-year-old still has two years remaining on his present contract.
"Unfortunately, Peterborough want a fee and for the price that is being talked about, our chances of getting him are a non-starter," Deehan told the Lincolnshire Echo.
"But if a situation develops and he is eventually released then we would be at the front of the queue, there is no doubt about that at all."
Deehan has previously worked with Crow in their time together at Northampton and he is hopeful this will put his club in the box seat.
"We are interested in Danny and it is a situation we are monitoring closely," Deehan said.
"I've made no secret of the fact that I like the boy a lot and we would love to have him here."
Peterborough have reportedly already turned down a bid of £100,000 for Crow from an unnamed lower league club.
Meanwhile, Peterborough have escaped punishment over the pitch invasion at London Road on the final day of the season which led to Rochdale's Glenn Poole being assaulted.
A section of Posh fans streamed onto the pitch at the final whistle following the 3-3 draw and on-loan Grays winger Poole was floored by a punch.
The culprit has been banned from London Road for life and from all football grounds for the next three years.
No disciplinary action will be taken, but the Football Association has warned Peterborough over their future conduct.
"It does reflect well on the football club because we did everything in our power to try to stop this incident happening and I think the FA have recognised that," said Posh chief executive Bob Symns.
"Our safety officers and their team were prepared and the fan was immediately apprehended and we have banned him for life."
