Shrewsbury have brought in Sean McAllister with Graham Turner handing the midfielder a two-year deal.
The 22-year-old was released by Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season, where he had made over 70 first-team appearances having progressed through their youth ranks.
Turner believes McAllister will be an excellent addition to his central midfield ranks ahead of the new season.
He told Town's official website: "I'm delighted to have been able to bring an exciting player such as Sean McAllister to the club.
"We have been in discussions and once again I feel I've bought in a player who has joined the club for all the right reasons.
"Sean has completed his medical and finished the paperwork and I now look forward to working with him as a Shrewsbury Town player."
