Graham Turner was delighted after defender Jermaine Grandison scored a rare goal to seal a 1-0 win for Shrewsbury at home to Bradford.
Grandison, a former Coventry full-back, struck for just the second time this season when he fired home a 15th-minute rebound after Bradford goalkeeper Matt Duke had saved well from James Collins in Monday's League Two clash at the New Meadow. "Jermaine has done quite well in terms of assists and the odd goal," said Turner. "It's such a vital goal for us and he's got a tremendous advantage over a lot of players when he goes up for set plays so you would expect him to get one or two." Turner accepted the Shrews had not been at their flowing best in a disjointed second half, but hailed their resilience in registering another clean sheet to keep them third in an exciting race for promotion. "There is the element of nervousness about us as you come into this run-in and it's still very tight up there," he said. "We've shown a lot of resilience and protected our goal well under difficult circumstances and the most important thing is we've won. "The result was everything. We had a very nervy second half, but I thought first half we played ever so well and might have been more than 1-0 ahead. We had some good opportunities."
