Turner slams his slow-starters

Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner insists his side must stop conceding early goals after going down 2-1 at Bournemouth.

Charlie Daniels and Josh McQuoid gave the host a 2-0 lead inside six minutes before Town recovered their poise and pulled a goal back through Matt Richards' penalty in the 14th minute. Only a series of outstanding saves from Shrews goalkeeper Chris Weale from Simon Francis, Lewis Grabban and Harry Arter kept the score down. Turner said: "That is the fifth time in six matches we have conceded early goals. You cannot keep giving teams starts like that, particularly ones like Bournemouth who have quality players and will pass the ball about. "Our defensive wall should have dealt with the first goal, which went between and underneath our defenders and there was an element of hand-ball about the second. "But that cannot disguise the fact that we could have been out of the game by half-time. We were better in the second, a lot more so than against Hereford last Saturday in the FA Cup. The players worked hard."
