STOCKPORT COUNTY have told planetfootball.com that they have completed the signing of defender Anthony Tonkin from Conference club Yeovil Town.
The former Liverpool, Leicester City and Plymouth Argyle player joins boss Carlton Palmer's side in a £50,000 move after leaving the Somerset club in controversial fashion last weekend.
Under the advice of his agent, Tonkin refused to appear for Yeovil's Conference match at home to Halifax Town last Saturday.
The move angered Yeovil manager Gary Johnson, who was said to be 'devastated' by the defender's decision not to appear for the match.
On the signing of Tonkin, Stockport County spokesman Steve Bellis said: "He has completed his move last night (Wednesday)."
Despite Tonkin's acrimonious parting from the Somerset club, his move to Edgeley Park will come as a boost to County, who sit mid-table in Division Two following their relegation from Division One last season.
