Notts run out County winners

Notts County manager Bill Dearden blew a huge sigh of relief as his troops dug deep to come back from the dead and run out 3-2 winners against Stockport County, heaping more pressure on opposite number Carlton Palmer.

Luke Beckett gave the visitors the lead with a sweetly struck right foot shot on 15 minutes after being teed up by Ali Gibb and the pair combined again 15 minutes later to make it 2-0.

Notts County came out firing in the second half determined to put on a better show for their home fans and on 54 minutes Darren Caskey (pictured) floated in a corner to the near post which Craig Ireland flicked on for forward Mark Stallard to head home from close range.

Stallard then turned provider for Paul Heffernan - on from the sub's bench at half-time for Duncan Jupp - to equalise before former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Caskey to put the home side in front on 74 minutes.

The win gives the Meadow Lane outfit some breathing space and moves Notts up to 15th position in Division Two whilst Palmer's side edge ever closer to relegation danger, dropping one place to 18th.
