Mansfield Town have taken Stockport County's Fraser McLachlan on loan.Mansfield Town have taken midfielder Fraser McLachlan on a month's loan from League One side Stockport County.
Stags caretaker manager Carlton Palmer moved quickly to boost the Field Mill squad by signing the 22-year-old, having worked with the player when he was manager at Edgeley Park.
McLachlan has seen little first team action under Hatters boss Sammy McIlroy recently and has already spent time on loan at Northwich Victoria.
The midfielder was in the Mansfield squad that drew 1-1 with League One side Colchester United in Saturday's FA Cup first round tie.
Meanwhile, Palmer has expressed an interest in taking the Mansfield job full time, should the post come available.
Palmer took charge late last week after The Stags temporarily suspended manager Keith Curle - pending the outcome of an internal enquiry into allegations made against him.
Palmer has since claimed to have helped Curle get the Mansfield post and he stated further that he would enjoy a return to management at Field Mill, if the job came available.
"I know some supporters feel Keith Curle has been unlucky or treated badly, but Keith got this job through me and I helped to keep him in the job last year," Palmer said.
"I have nothing to do with what's happening here with Keith right now, but if Keith Curle for some reason was no longer the manager and the chairman (Keith Haslam) rang me to offer me the job, I would take it.
"What is happening off the field is not my problem, but it would be to everyone's benefit if it was resolved quickly, which is what the chairman is trying to do."
