Stockport have rejected a bid for Ashley Williams from a Championship club.
Stockport have rejected a bid for defender Ashley Williams from an unnamed Championship club.
Williams' form for the League Two side has seen clubs from England's second tier show a keen interest in the 22-year-old.
However, Stockport boss Jim Gannon (pictured) insists the stopper is an integral part of his plans after turning down the offer.
"It was a reasonable offer for a League Two centre-half, but we turned it down because Ash is too important to our plans," Gannon told the club's official website.
Stockport and Williams are already in talks over a contract extension, with the stopper understood to be happy at Edgeley Park.
Meanwhile, midfielder Damien Allen has moved to Royal Antwerp on loan until the end of the season.
Gannon hopes Allen will see some regular first-team football in Belgium and insists the 20-year-old's future remains at Stockport.
He added: "We just hope he goes out there and improves and enjoys his football for the next six months."
