Rovers release four

Bristol Rovers have released four players as they plan for next season.

Bristol Rovers have informed four players that they will not be having their contracts renewed.

Pirates boss Paul Trollope admits it was a tough decision in deciding which players were surplus to requirements, as John Anderson, Jon Bass, Christian Edwards and Martin Horsell were all culled from his playing staff.

''It was difficult, but it's part and parcel of the job,'' he told the club's official website.

''Especially when you've had very personal relationships with the players.

''Telling them that they have no future is not nice.''

He could, though, hand brighter news to Craig Disley, Craig Hinton and Aaron Lescott - who have all been offered new deals.
