Clark looking at ex-Northern Ireland U21 international

Huddersfield Town have handed a trial to former Northern Ireland Under-21 captain Mark McChrystal. The 25-year-old defender is currently without a club following the termination of his contract with League of Ireland side Derry City. Manager Lee Clark is hoping to have the paperwork though in time for McChrystal to feature in Tuesday's reserves clash against Bradford. Clark was given McChrystal's name by his Irish contacts and insists the player must shine if he wants to win a deal with the League One club.

Good references

"I've got quite a few contacts over in Ireland and Mark's name has been mentioned to me several times," he told the club's official website. "He's got a good pedigree and has been a consistent performer for Derry at centre-back, and we're always interested in good players. "Having gone on record over his desire to play League football, this week is his chance to show us what he's all about."
