MK Dons manager Karl Robinson has hinted that Angelo Balanta may play have a prominent role to play against Brentford on New Year's Eve. It was at Brentford last season that the on-loan forward suffered an ankle injury that kept him out for four months. In that game, which the Dons won 2-0, Balanta scored a spectacular half-volley and was a constant threat to the Bees defence. The injury resulted in surgery and robbed Robinson of a key player for a long stretch of the season. That remains fresh in the manager's mind and he believes Balanta, who has spent recent weeks coming on from the bench, has something to prove at Griffin Park this time round. "Angelo might get his chance against Brentford. I thought he was outstanding there last year, he scored a worldy and then someone injured him," Robinson told the assembled media. "He's got some demons to put to bed, he's got a lot of things to prove. I can't wait to see him." The game is set to be Balanta's last of his loan spell from QPR but Robinson has expressed a desire to keep the 21-year-old.
