Ward upset not to claim win

Bristol Rovers boss John Ward felt his side might have done enough to take all three points against Bury at the Memorial Stadium.

The Pirates remain without a home win since the end of August after a 1-1 draw with the Shakers. Ward's team were gifted a fourth-minute lead when Shaun Beeley mistimed his challenge on Eliot Richards to concede a penalty, which John-Joe O'Toole fired high into the roof of the net. But Bury were the better side in the opening half and deservedly equalised after 36 minutes when the Pirates failed to clear a Beeley cross from the right and Danny Hylton shot home from close range. Ward said: "(Bury interim manager) Ronnie (Jepson) will feel his side did enough to win it in the first half and we feel much the same about the second period. "I was thinking of taking off Alfie Santos because we couldn't get the ball to him for 45 minutes. But that changed after the break and he really got into the game. "Unfortunately, he has nicked a hamstring in the closing stages and we will need to assess that over the next 48 hours. "People can look at it that we have only won once in the last four games or that we are unbeaten in four. I prefer to take the positive view."
