Peterborough have appointed Lee Glover as manager Grant McCann's assistant and have signed defenders Andrew Hughes and Ryan Tafazolli.

McCann was confirmed as the club's permanent new manager last month and former Derby and Coventry coach Glover has joined him at London Road.

"I am confident he will get the best out of the players," McCann told the club's official website.

"It was really important to get this appointment right. I spoke to one or two other people, but when I spoke to Lee, I understood straight away how keen he was to join us."

Left-back Hughes, 24, has signed a two-year deal after ending his 10-year stay at Newport. He had made nearly 150 appearances for the Welsh club.

"Andrew is a good player and he will definitely be threatening the starting line-up this coming season," said McCann.

"He has played a lot of games in the Football League, he played the last 30 games last season and was very good."

Centre-half Tafazolli has put pen to paper on a three-year contract after turning down a new deal at Mansfield.

"Ryan is a super player," McCann added. "He has won a lot of awards for his performances at Mansfield both this season and last and he will be a threat in both boxes."

Posh have also confirmed the return of Ben Mackenzie as the club's new head of sports science to work with Neal Lattimore.
