Boyd completes Posh move

Peterborough have clinched the signing of George Boyd from Stevenage Borough.

Peterborough have completed the signing of George Boyd from Stevenage Borough.

The two clubs have agreed a Conference record fee of £260,000, with Stevenage also set to share significantly in any future transfers.

The highly-rated midfielder was set to play his last game for Stevenage against Stafford Rangers on Saturday, but the game was postponed due to bad weather.

He was therefore able to travel to London Road to watch Peterborough's 1-1 draw with Plymouth in the FA Cup, and was introduced to the crowd at half-time.

Boyd is to start training with Posh on Monday after putting the finishing touches on a four-and-a-half year deal, and his former club wish him every success.

"We promised George all last season that if the right offer came in and he wanted to go we wouldn't stand in his way," Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace told the club's official website.

"He's a very talented player who we expect to play much higher."

Stevenage manager Mark Stimson added: "He has been a pleasure to work with, a fantastic attitude, and fans will remember that for a long time."

Boyd, who was linked with a move to Crystal Palace last season, could make his Peterborough debut against Darlington this weekend.
