Young winger impresses Wilson

Sheffield United's latest signing Nathaniel Mendez-Laing did enough on his debut in midweek to impress manager Danny Wilson.

The 19-year-old Wolves winger, on a six-month loan deal, played for just over an hour in the Carling Cup penalty shootout win at Hartlepool and Wilson was pleased with his contribution. Wilson said: "While I would say he looks a bit ring rusty, like he needs games under his belt, you can certainly see he has a lot to offer. "He could have scored in the first few seconds. He'll be reliving that a few times! He needs the games and with that will come an understanding with the players, he's only had one-and-a-half sessions on the training ground with the boys. "But overall we can look to have a player who will fit in really well us."
