Dale reject Platt bids

ROCHDALE have rejected two bids for striker Clive Platt, despite the player's refusal to sign a new contract with the Spotland club.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a few clubs since news of his decision not to sign a fresh deal last month.

Dale chairman David Kilpatrick told the club's official website that the valuations were not good enough.

Platt is keen to join a higher division club and may leave Rochdale on a Bosman free in the summer, but Kilpatrick remains hopeful that the big hit-man will stay at Spotland.

Kilpatrick said: "We hope that Clive will stay, but you cannot blame him for wanting to play at a higher level.

"He's an ambitious lad, but we will do everything we can to keep him here.

"The bids we've had don't come anywhere near the valuation we hold on Platt and they think because he's out of contract in the summer they can throw any small amount of money at us we will accept it.

"We want him to stay, but if a bid came in that stopped us in our tracks we would give it serious consideration."
