Neil Redfearn, Shaun Smith, Chris Beech, Matt Doughty, Stephen Hill, Sean McClare, Simon Grand and Lee McEvilly have been told they have no futures at the Division Three club.
McEvilly has since moved on to Conference club Accrington Stanley.
However, the Dale manager has offered new deals to New Zealand international Leo Bertos, goalkeeper Neil Edwards, defender Wayne Evans and midfielder Scott Warner.
Having finished five points the drop zone in Division Three this season, Parkin is set to restructure his Rochdale squad and aim for an improved campaign next term.
