Chester hit with embargo

Chester City have been forced to send loanee Ricky Ravenhill back to Doncaster.

Chester City have been forced to send loanee Ricky Ravenhill back to Doncaster.

The League Two side have exceeded the Football League ruling which means any team cannot not go above 60 percent of their turnover on wages.

Now Chester automatically have a transfer embargo placed on them as they need to cut their wage bill.

"We have a meeting with the Football League on Thursday but the reality is until we move players out of the club, we cannot register any others," confirmed chairman Stephen Vaughan.

Chester had a deal in place to sign Ravenhill on a permanent basis - but now it seems that is unlikely to happen.

Jermaine McSporran, Graham Allen and Michael Branch have all been told they can leave the club as Chester look to cut back on the wages.
