Blues youngster to take in loan spell at Glanford Park

Manchester City youngster Donal McDermott has joined Scunthorpe on loan for the remainder of the season. The 20-year-old has already spent time away from Eastlands this term, taking in three months at League Two outfit Chesterfield. He scored five times in 15 appearances for the Spireites before returning to City in October with his reputation enhanced. The Irishman penned a new two-year contract with the Blues last summer, and is highly regarded by City, but is yet to make the breakthrough into the senior fold. It has therefore been decided that his development would be better served taking in another loan spell. He will spend the remainder of the 2009/10 with Championship side Scunthorpe and will go straight into Nigel Adkins' plans for the Iron's midweek home date with Sheffield Wednesday.
