Sky Sports understands Rochdale are lining up a move for Stockport defender James Tunnicliffe.
New Dale boss Keith Hill is keen to bolster his defensive options and he has targeted a move for Tunnicliffe.
Tunnicliffe is in his second spell at Stockport after rejoining the club last summer and the 23-year-old has impressed at Edgeley Park.
A host of Football League clubs have been tracking Tunnicliffe, but Rochdale are hoping to win the race for the former Brighton and Wycombe man.
Rochdale are believed to have made an enquiry for Tunnicliffe and are waiting to see if Stockport are willing to sell him before the close of the transfer window.
