Waddock accepts Johnson red

Wycombe boss Gary Waddock had no complaints about Leon Johnson's red card after 10 minutes of the 3-1 defeat at Chesterfield.

Johnson was shown a red card for a 10th minute trip on Marc Richards, shortly before Chris Atkinson's strike and Jack Lester's instinctive 20th minute header, when he turned in a Sam Togwell volley, put Chesterfield in charge. Neal Trotman sliced a corner into his own net in the 73rd minute but Sam Hird headed in a free kick five minutes from time to seal Chesterfield's first League win of the season. "Johnno goes off in the 10th minute and they score in the 13th minute and it becomes an uphill task," said Waddock. "But if it had been the other way round, you would expect the defender to be sent off. "The players kept going but at the moment we are not getting the breaks. You have to be able to stand up to that and find out who the characters and winners are in the dressing room to come through this period. "I said to the players, when it's 2-0 you can play but you have to turn up at 3 o'clock and quarter-to-eight when it's 0-0, that's when the real players play."
