Ainsworth: We weren't in it

Gareth Ainsworth believes Wycombe's 4-1 loss at Rochdale was a bad day at the office for his side.

Despite the Chairboys taking a 16th minute lead through Stuart Lewis, Ian Henderson's equalised soon after and an own goal from Josh Scowen minutes into the second half turned the game on its head before a late brace from George Donnelly provided gloss to the scoreline. "That was something I haven't seen from us for a while," he said. "We seemed to be second to a lot of stuff and our defending of set plays, something we pride ourselves on, was a let down and we conceded a couple of goals from them. "We looked disorganised and out of sorts, I don't know why it happened but we'll go again and put it right. "Jordan Archer did brilliantly in the opening 10 minutes and pulled off some fantastic saves to keep us in the game. "Then we went ahead but gave away a silly free kick for their equaliser. At half time I told the lads to put things right in the second half and within two minutes we'd conceded from a corner. "You have to play the conditions and the circumstances and we just didn't do that on the day. "I credited us with more experience and that we were more streetwise than that, but everybody had a bad day. It's all come in one game, so perhaps that's a good thing and we can put it behind us, sweep that away and move on."
