David Hodgson wants to bring David Preece back to Darlington.Darlington have confirmed their interest in bringing goalkeeper David Preece back to he club.
Preece was originally with The Quakers from 1997-1999 after he joined from Sunderland.
He was sold to Aberdeen in 1999 by David Hodgson after making over 100 appearances for the club.
Hodgson, who is now also back at Darlington, is keen on working with Preece again.
"I'd have Preecy back tomorrow," Hodgson told Darlington's website.
"I think he would love to come back but he still has bigger opportunities I think than what we are," said Hodgson.
"We'll just have to wait and see what type of packages he gets offered."
Darlington are yet to secure last season's number one Sam Russell on a new deal and the ongoing doubt over his future means Hodgson is looking at possible alternatives.
Like Russell, winger Jason St'Juste is yet to agree new terms and Hodgson seems to be running out of patience with the 19-year-old - who has been linked with Southampton.
"That player and his representative are everything that is wrong with the agency business," blasted Hodgson.
"Believe you me I would really love to tell you what I think but I can't."
