Mildenhall has damaged thumb ligaments which require an operation and he will be sidelined until next term.
The 24-year-old has been in sparkling form since establishing himself as The Magpies' first-choice keeper at the end of November.
With the Meadow Lane outfit only five points above the relegation zone, the loss of Mildenhall for the closing weeks of the campaign is a bitter pill for manager Billy Dearden to swallow.
"It's a big blow for us but he has got to have an operation on his thumb," Dearden told the club's official website.
"He can't carry on as it is and he needs an operation as soon as possible. If he has the operation now he will be ready for pre-season."
