Kiwomya planning for new term

Chris Kiwomya has already started planning for next season and has held talks with both potential Notts County players and staff.

Kiwomya, who was last month handed a three-year contract at Meadow Lane following a caretaker spell in charge, hopes to have a full coaching team in place before the conclusion of the current campaign in just over two weeks' time. And with 15 County players out of contract in the summer, Kiwomya and his assistants will have plenty to discuss. "Hopefully that will be done before the end of the season but I've got to make sure it's the right decision when I do it," he told the club's official website. "I need somebody to help me pick the team and pick players and try to get Notts County up the table." And Kiwomya is also wasting little time getting in contact with potential new signings for next season as he aims to improve upon what will be a mid-table finish in League One for the Magpies this term. "I want it to be an exciting season but we've got to have players who will come here and work hard," he added. "I've been in talks with three or four players but there will be other teams looking at these players. "The players that I want to bring in, I want them to be able to give something to Notts County that the fans want and the chairman wants. Hopefully we'll be able to get those targets that we're going after." He continued: "One of my priorities is to bring in strikers - ones that can score goals for us. I've got to find the right combination and that's one of the tasks. "It's not just a team, we need to build a strong squad who can challenge."
