Southport are hoping to tie up the loan capture of Woking defender Jimmy Aggrey.Southport are hoping to tie up the loan capture of Woking defender Jimmy Aggrey this week.
The 27-year-old joined The Cards in pre-season but has featured only five times in the league for Glenn Cockerill's men and is thought to favour a move in order to play first-team football.
Port are in dire need of some defensive reinforcements following their last league outing - a crushing 4-1 home reverse to Kidderminster Harriers. Prior to that, things had looked on the up for Liam Watson's men after three clean sheets in five games.
However, this weekend's home match against relegation rivals Canvey Island is now more important than before.
"Our fate is still in our own hands, we know we have to put a run together," said Watson.
"We have a number of fixtures that we can certainly get points from.
"We need new faces, I have constantly been on the phone, we need impetus and I am doing everything to remedy the situation.
"Our home record has not been good and I recognise that we have to put that right in the run-in, which has to start on Saturday.
"Our last three Conference matches have seen us win, lose and draw, if we continued like that until April it is likely we would be safe," he concluded.
The Southport manager is also looking at bringing in Bury striker Allan Smart.
Smart has scored just one goal in 12 appearances for The Shakers and could be set to leave Gigg Lane.
