Barker blithe as Shakers shine

Richie Barker was delighted with Bury's display and said he thought they were "almost safe" after their 4-1 demolition of Colchester.

David Worrall, Mike Grella, Giles Coke and Shaun Harrad were on target for the Shakers in Monday's League Two clash at Gigg Lane, while Tom Eastman pulled one back for the visitors, but it was Bury's day as they gave their survival chances a huge boost with a second home win in the space of nine days. Barker said: "I thought it was a magnificent performance, we were first class. The players should be very proud of themselves. "They got a corner after 30 seconds and I thought it was going to be a long afternoon, but after the first five minutes we dominated the game. "I think we're almost safe, one more victory and I think we'll be there. That's how important this result is. "I said last week we had to make our home games count and we've managed to do that with two home victories in the space of a week."
