Macclesfield Town boss Brian Horton is the League Two Manager of the Month.Macclesfield Town boss Brian Horton has been named the League Two Manager of the Month for February.
The former Manchester City and Port Vale manager took the award after taking four wins out of a possible four in the league last month.
The run continues from January, with The Silkmen having recorded six victories on the trot in an unbeaten run of eight matches to this stage.
Those results have taken the Cheshire club to third in the table and in a real position to earn automatic promotion at the season's end.
The Moss Rose club's success so far is a far cry from last season when they were struggling to stay in The Football League.
Horton revealed that the recent additions of David Morley, Neil MacKenzie, Kevin McIntyre and Danny Swailes have had an impact in Macclesfield's superb run since the turn of the New Year.
"Credit to the board and the owners - about seven games ago, I went to them and said: 'Where do you want to be? Where do you want to go?'," Horton told Sky Sports News.
"They asked me what was required and they gave £65,000 to go and get four players in.
"I think that's when it turned around. We took 22 points out of 24, six games on the trot we won, so that's a club record.
"It's gone great for us so far, but there's a long way to go. "They're working very hard as a team and we're looking good as a unit at the moment."
