Torquay release seven

TORQUAY UNITED have released seven players as they streamline their squad ahead of next season.

Greg Goodridge, Andrew Martin, Jason Rees, Steve Tully, Ryan Ashford, Chris Brandon and Kenny Griffiths are all leaving Plainmoor, with the latter two named rejecting offers of a new contract.

Barbados international striker Goodridge departs after his second spell with The Gulls. He rejoined the club in November but will not have his contract renewed.

Fellow forward Andrew Martin leaves after just five appearances following his free transfer arrival from Crystal Palace in March.

Midfielder Rees has been a regular in the Torquay line-up since joining from Exeter 18 months ago while Ashford had just two outings since coming to the club from Southampton on transfer deadline day.

Defender Tully had spent his entire career with Torquay, making over 100 appearances but he has only figured twice this year.

Brandon has turned down a fresh deal after three years with the Devon outfit while young goalkeeper Griffiths, who has yet to appear for the first team, has also spurned a new contract.
