Torquay United boss Leroy Rosenior has hit out at striker Adebayo Akinfenwa.Torquay United boss Leroy Rosenior has hit out at Adebayo Akinfenwa after reports that the striker will not ink a new deal.
Akinfenwa enjoyed a decent personal campaign but following Torquay's relegation seems reluctant to play League Two football next season.
The pacey striker was offered fresh terms but despite not having informed Rosenior of his decision, it would appear he is on his way out of Plainmoor.
Newspaper reports have suggested Akinfenwa will ply his trade elsewhere - in a set of circumstances that have clearly not amused Rosenior.
"This is news to me, I have spoken to Bayo's agent a couple of times during the week and they were trying to arrange to meet with him,'' Rosenior told the club's official website.
''On reading this news I immediately phoned the agent who tells me that the story is a surprise to him also and he has not been able to arrange a meeting with the player at this stage.
''Nothing in football surprises me and with this in mind I am already speaking to possible replacements for Bayo.
''He came to us with a poor record and it took a lot of work to turn him into the player he seems to have become and I would have thought he at least owed us the courtesy of a formal response to our offer rather than having to read about it in a newspaper.''
