League Two outfit Bristol Rovers have made a double swoop with the loan signings of Michael Poke and Aaron Downes.
Goalkeeper Poke, who worked with manager Paul Buckle while on loan at Torquay, joins from Brighton and defender Downes makes the move from Chesterfield, both on initial one-month deals. Cian Bolger has also handed Buckle with a timely boost, extending his loan spell at the Memorial Stadium by another month. "We have been waiting for the window to open for a while, as we have known what our problems are," Buckle said. "With Scott Bevan picking up a calf injury, we have been left short of goalkeepers and, with Michael available, it was too good an opportunity to turn down. "He played in the play-off final for Torquay and did very well and he is an experienced keeper, which is what we need. Aaron is an out and out centre-half who has a lot of experience which is something we need at the back."
