Gulls actively pursuing striker

Torquay chairman Simon Baker has spoken of his search for a striker to boost the League Two club's attacking options.

Despite Gulls manager Martin Ling's absence through illness, Baker has been working tirelessly to bring in a new face before the clash with Fleetwood on Saturday. That need for a frontman has intensified as top-scorer Rene Howe will be missing for the next two games after picking up his 10th booking of the season. "We were actually rebuffed on our first enquiry this week because the player in question is not keen on relocating to the south-west," Baker told the club's official website. "The suspension of Rene has obviously applied a bit of pressure and we are actively pursuing targets identified by Martin and his assistant Shaun Taylor. "At the moment, it is really a case of watch this space."
