Torquay have offered a five pound reduction to fans making the 600-mile round trip to Morecambe on Saturday.
The Gulls are currently only one point above the relegation zone, but secured a vital 3-2 victory in their last outing against Barnet. The club's chief executive told the Herald Express: "If money was no object, the club would love to be more generous, in providing something like free travel to the Morecambe game, but we haven't got that money available to us. "If 500 fans go to Morecambe, it will cost the club £2,500, and this way the offer will benefit a lot more people than just those who might travel by coach. "It's a small thank-you to the fans who are able to go to Morecambe for another huge game." Boss Alan Knill said: "We've gone a couple of places up the table, and now we'll try and get three more points at Morecambe." Knill was eager to praise captain Lee Mansell, who has been playing with a knee injury which may require surgery in the summer. The former Bury and Scunthorpe manager, who has been in charge while Martin Ling has been on sick leave, said: "He's everything you need in a team player, with energy, commitment and he's got quite a bit of quality. "I'm a big fan. He drives the team on and leads by example."
