Hawley desperate for a favour

Scunthorpe striker Karl Hawley has begged some of his old team-mates to help the Iron ahead of a crunch weekend in League One.

United must beat Swindon to stand any chance of survival while Hawley's former club Carlisle must topple Colchester on what could be a dramatic final day. The 31-year-old is one of a number of ex-Cumbrians now fighting to save Brian Laws' side, and Hawley has been texting some of his former colleagues for a favour. "I'm still in contact with a couple of the lads at Carlisle," he told the News & Star. "I'm throwing them a few texts and seeing if they can do us a favour. "But obviously they're professional people and they're going to go and try and win the game. "It's their last home game and I know how much it means to the fans - they're not just going to go half-hearted."
