Scottish Championship: Jason Cummings salvages late draw for leaders Hibernian

Hibernian were indebted to a late Jason Cummings goal as they scrambled a draw in the top-versus-bottom clash with Ayr United in the Scottish Championship on Saturday.

Ayr went in front after only four minutes through Robbie Crawford's superb individual goal.

Cummings swooped with 16 minutes left to play and Hibs almost found a winner when Grant Holt saw his header cleared off the line.

Dundee United closed the gap on Hibs to six points with a straightforward 3-0 victory over Raith Rovers at Tannadice in the evening kick-off.

The visitors weathered the first-half storm but Thomas Mikkelsen headed in Paul Dixon's cross on the stroke of half-time to put United in front and Tony Andreu doubled their lead three minutes after the break.

Mikkelsen then put the seal on the result with his second of the game as the hosts ended a run of five games without a win.

Falkirk moved up to third place with John Baird and Lee Miller on target in a 2-0 win over local rivals Dunfermline.

Derek Lyle headed in the opening goal on 71 minutes and Kyle Jacobs then smashed in a second with a fine strike from 30 yards.

Joe Thomson completed the scoring with a superb solo effort after a long run from deep.
