Celtic are close to agreeing a deal with St Mirren to sign free-scoring midfielder Lewis Morgan, Sky Sports News understands.
The 21-year-old has been at the centre of St Mirren's run to the top of the Scottish Championship this season, scoring nine league goals and 13 in all competitions.
St Mirren boss Jack Ross said on Tuesday that Morgan's future will be sorted this week and, if a deal to Celtic is completed, he will return to the Paisley club on loan for the rest of the season.
Ross was speaking before the clash with Morton at Cappielow, where Morgan scored his ninth league goal of the season in a 1-1 draw, a result that saw their lead over Dundee United cut to three points.
There had been reports the recent season-ending injury suffered by Celtic winger Jonny Hayes could complicate the move and see Morgan join up with the Premiership leaders in January.
Celtic have just started their mid-season break and do not return to action until January 20 when they take on Brechin in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
Brendan Rodgers' squad heads to Dubai for a training camp next weekend.
