Jefferies expecting Naismith exit

Jim Jefferies would be surprised if Steven Naismith stays with Kilmarnock this summer.

Jim Jefferies would be surprised if Steven Naismith is still a Kilmarnock player come the start of the SPL season.

The Scotland international has been a long-term target of Rangers, who have already seen four bids rejected for the striker.

Jefferies feels a deal for Naismith is close and that it will be down to the player whether he leaves Rugby Park during the close season.

"I'll be very surprised if he's with us at the start of the season, because I think there are clubs out there willing to match what we want," he told Sky Sports News.

"It'll be up to Steven if he goes or not. I don't think we're too far away. I think there might be some negotiations go on somewhere.

"It's a fair and reasonable price that we've put on and if that comes in, we won't hold Steven back. We'll allow him to speak to them, whoever it is.

"If he says no to that club we'll be delighted, because we'd rather keep the boy than sell him and that's why we'll never put him up for sale."
