Niculae aims for Caley impact

Marius Niculae is hoping he can make a big impact at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Marius Niculae is hoping he can make a big impact after being presented as an Inverness Caledonian Thistle player.

The Romanian striker has signed a two-year contract with the SPL club, subject to being granted a work permit.

Niculae is Inverness' biggest signing in the club's history and he is determined to repay the investment after a troubled last season.

"It's a fresh start and a new experience," said Niculae. "It's what I really need.

"When I went to Mainz last season, I was unlucky. After they signed me they bought another striker who had been playing there the year before.

"For that reason, I played very few games. But I hope I can show the people here I am a good signing.

"I've been impressed by the city, the people, the club - everything. I spoke with the manager and chairman on my first visit and want to be part of their vision for this club."

Inverness manager Charlie Christie is confident Niculae's signing will not create any disharmony within the squad.

Christie said: "At many clubs you hear of unrest, but one thing I hold dearly at this club is a lack of unrest over the years.

"I'd be very surprised if that's the case."
