The Bhoys began their pre-season tour of America with a 2-0 loss to MLS All-Stars, but bounced back with a draw against the Fire.
The home side dominated the contest for long periods and deservedly took the lead when Mexican legend Cuauhtemoc Blanco slotted home past Artur Boruc.
Celtic grew in confidence as the contest progressed, but it was the introduction of Riordan that provided the much-needed boost.
The former Hibs ace's volley squared the contest with 11 minutes left and Celtic almost snatched the win when Scott McDonald tested Jon Busch.
Celtic now take on Newcastle and Parma before kicking off the defence of their SPL title against Kilmarnock.
