Rangers striker Jean-Claude Darcheville has been banned for three European games after Uefa reviewed his foul on Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom.
The Frenchman was sent off for his challenge on the Lyon midfielder in Rangers' final UEFA Champions League group game on 12th December.
Rangers failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League but Darcheville will now miss both legs of the Uefa Cup tie against Panathinaikos.
The three-game suspension means he will also miss the first leg of the meeting with Werder Bremen or Braga in the last 16, should Gers make it past Panathinaikos.
If Rangers lose to the Greeks, Darcheville's punishment will carry over to the first European game of next season.
Rangers have the right to appeal but will not decide whether to act until they receive Uefa's full report.
