Striker could feature against Dundee United

Daniel Cousin is back in contention for Rangers after recovering from surgery on his broken jaw. The striker sustained the injury in the Gers' Uefa Cup cash with Werder Bremen four weeks ago and has been unable to feature for Walter Smith's side since. However, after recovering from a recent operation to resolve the problem in France, the Gabon international is now targeting a return to action against Dundee United this weekend.

Risks

"I am waiting for the doctor to give me the green light to play again but my jaw is feeling a lot better now," he said. "I am back in full training and that is good but it still isn't the same as taking part in matches. "After speaking to the doctor, he thinks I will be able to play against Dundee United on Sunday. "I am not going to take any risks as my jaw has to heal properly but, if everything goes according to plan, I can take part in the match at Tannadice." Cousin was recently the subject of a drawn-out transfer dispute between Rangers and Fulham, and having seen the move eventually vetoed by Fifa, has received a mixed reaction from the Ibrox faithful on his return to the side. He insists that he is happy with life in Scotland though, and is prepared to do his utmost in the coming weeks to ensure that the Gers remain on course to claim a remarkable quadruple.
Committed
"It is fair to say that 2008 has started quite strangely for me but what happened a few weeks ago is behind me now," he told Rangers News. "When I signed for Rangers last August, it wasn't my plan to stay here for less than six months and then leave. "I was committed to the team then, just as I am now, but the club received a good offer for me from Fulham. "The contract they offered interested me as well but, when Fifa said the move couldn't go through, I was still really happy to stay here. "I got a varied reaction from the fans after everything that happened. Some backed me and others were against me but that is normal."
