Midfielder set for new deal

Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies is confident of agreeing a new deal with Mehdi Taouil. The Moroccan's current contract expires at the end of the season meaning he could leave for free. Taouil has indicated he would like to stay at Rugby Park and Jefferies is planning talks with the player and agent in the next few days.

Talks

"Mehdi has indicated to me he wants to stay here and his agent is coming over this weekend for talks," said Jefferies. "I'm sure because he has done well here his agent will have two or three clubs interested in him. "But he's said he'd like to stay at Kilmarnock, so it's all about whether we can agree a deal to keep him here. "We'll find out what he is looking for and I'll be able to tell him if it's a possibility or not."

New deals

Meanwhile, Jefferies has handed new contracts to four of Kilmarnock's rising stars. Paul McInnes, Thomas Nolan, Scott Anson and David Cox have agreed deals until December as they progress from the Under 19s and Jefferies has challenged the quartet to prove they are worthy of longer contracts. "We've had to let go some of the Under 19s who can't play at that level next season," added Jefferies. "Now these four must show they're worthy of a longer deal."
