Viking Stavanger striker Andrius Velicka is on the brink of signing a three-year contract with Rangers.
The Lithuanian only left Hearts in February but Rangers have now ensured that he will make a swift return to Scotland.
Walter Smith identified the 29-year-old as one of his top targets for the summer some time ago and Norwegian club Stavanger gave their permission for Rangers to speak with him over the weekend.
It is understood that a fee of around £1million has been settled between the clubs and Velicka has agreed personal terms on a deal that will keep him at Ibrox until 2011.
He has also undergone a medical and now just has to put pen-to-paper on a contract so that his registration can be lodged with the Scottish Football Association and Scottish Premier League on 14th July.
Velicka will increase competition for places in attack with Nacho Novo, Jean-Claude Darcheville, Daniel Couisn, Kris Boyd and Steven Naismith already at the club.
Scotland international Kenny Miller has also arrived at Rangers from Derby.
