MacPherson delighted Potter agrees to stay

St Mirren captain John Potter has signed a new contract to extend his stay at the club until 2011. Potter's deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but the 29-year-old has pledged his future to Gus MacPherson's side. The centre-half has made over 130 appearances for St Mirren since joining from Clyde in 2005 and MacPherson is delighted to keep his skipper. "John has agreed an extra two years on top of the time he has left on this contract," the St Mirren boss told the Daily Record. "We're delighted. He has been one of - if not our most - consistent player this season. "The players look up to him, both on and off the park and he has done well."
