Scottish striker backing Burley's men to overcome Norway

Chris Iwelumo expects the SPL's decision to delay the start of next season to benefit the national side. Scotland boss George Burley had called on the Scottish Premier League to review their decision to begin the 2009/10 campaign just four days before a crucial World Cup qualifier against Norway. His words were taken on board, with the start date having now been pushed back in order to accommodate the trip to Oslo. Wolves striker Iwelumo is delighted to see common sense prevail and is backing Scotland to take another positive step on the road to South Africa. "It is definitely good news," the towering frontman told the Daily Record. "We will get the right preparation now to win that one - there can be no excuses. "All the players will be 100 per cent so the SPL have seen sense and it will help us win." Iwelumo has also called on Burley to give him an opportunity to make amends for his horror miss against Norway at Hampden Park in October. "I have a point to prove and I reckon I could erase what happened if selected," he added.
