Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood is conscious of the fact that he could lose winger Sone Aluko to a bigger club in the summer.
The 20-year-old has shone since signing from Birmingham City for £75,000 last summer having featured in 31 of the Dons' 37 SPL games this term.
The youngster again impressed at Rangers despite his side losing 2-1 on Saturday and Calderwood knows that it will not be long before the scouts begin calling.
Aberdeen still have a top-four finish in sight with one game of the season remaining and Calderwood wants to build on his squad in the summer rather than see players leave.
"The kid was terrific at Ibrox and he's made a habit of delivering on the big occasions," he told the Daily Record.
"But displays like that put him on the radar of wealthier clubs than Aberdeen and that's a massive worry.
"Scouts from most of the major clubs tend to be in the stand for games at Ibrox and they could not fail to have been impressed.
"I know Walter Smith and Ally McCoist certainly were."
However, Calderwood has not yet received any offers for the former England Under 19 international and he believes that Aluko would benefit from remaining at Pittodrie for at least another season.
"We've not had any approaches so far and I'd rather things stayed that way. Sone has been outstanding twice against Rangers this season," he added.
"He is a wonderful player and we know bigger clubs will ask about him. However, it's in his best interests to stay here. He still has a lot to learn."
Meanwhile Jamie Smith has travelled to Toronto FC to undergo talks over a possible move while Dons skipper Scott Severin and defender Lee Mair are also looking for new teams after the club revealed it would not be offering them new deals.
