Madjid Bougherra has said he is looking forward to pre-season training with Rangers as well as the prospect of playing against one of his Algeria team-mates.
Summer has barely started and yet Bougherra insists he is eager to get on with things at Ibrox.
The 26-year-old is looking forward to getting back in training upon his return from international duty with Algeria.
Scoring the first goal in his side's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win in Zambia at the weekend, he has been key to his country's quest to make next year's finals for the first time since 1986.
And yet, despite his hectic schedule, he still has time to anticipate the Gers' upcoming friendly ties against Paris St Germain, Arsenal and Portsmouth where he will come up against fellow countryman Nadir Belhadj.
"Pre-season is going to be great," Bougherra told the club's official website.
"Obviously we are playing Paris St Germain and I was born in France so that will be special.
"The Portsmouth game will be the same for me because I will be coming up against my friend Nadir Belhadj."
Rangers' pre-season training at Ibrox will commence on 9th July with the majority of players returning from their summer breaks.
Bougherra, though, is expected to return to training at a later date after a hectic playing schedule.
"That is something I will need to speak to the manager (Walter Smith ) about but hopefully I will be able to get some extra time off.
"For three years now, I have had the same situation where I've been playing all season then I've had matches in the summer too.
"When my team-mates have had six weeks off and I've only had two or three it can be very difficult.
"I have started more or less every game for Rangers over the last year so it is important that I have chance to recover from that properly.
"Hopefully I can come to an agreement with the gaffer that means I am given a bit more time to get ready for next season so that I am at my best."
